About the Library
The Warburg Library is a research library providing support for students, academics and a national and international scholarly community. The collection, arranged thematically in a unique subject-order designed to facilitate interdisciplinary research, makes it an essential resource for the history of the classical tradition in the Middle Ages and Early modern time and Renaissance studies. The Library is open-access and consists of around 370,000 volumes and ca. 1,2000 current periodicals. The electronic resources are currently expanding.

The Warburg Institute has embarked on an ambitious project, Warburg Library OnLine, which will  provide access to our existing digital resources and create new digital repositories, all linked to our unique Library classification system, the iconographic arrangement of our Photographic Collection and the collections of the Institute Archive.

The Role
The Warburg Institute has a one year fixed-term opportunity for a Scanner Operator to join their team.  This role, reporting to the Digital Librarian, is responsible for producing high quality scans of materials from the Institute’s collections as part of its digitization strategy. The Scanner Operator will work on the first of the Institute’s intended projects which will involve scanning several hundred books from the early twentieth century.

The Person
The successful person for this post will have knowledge of and experience in using computer applications such as spreadsheets and databases for compiling and maintaining metadata.  Able to learn new technical skills quickly, you will also have practical experience of scanning technologies in a working environment.  Above all, the Warburg Institute is seeking somebody with good interpersonal skills to liaise with library staff, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain focussed whilst working for long periods of time.
