The Careers Group is the largest higher education careers service in the country and we are looking for someone to create and manage our comprehensive programme of training and professional development activities, from induction programmes to professional qualifications and leadership development.

The Professional Development Unit works together with different teams all across The Careers Group to identify current and future professional needs to enable our staff to be the best in their chosen profession.

The vast majority of our training is delivered in house by our staff and you will support them in the specification, design and evaluation of new and existing activities. You will also liaise with external training providers, the University’s HR Department and relevant professional organisations.

Reporting to the Head of Research & Organisational Development and supported by a small team of administrators, you will be responsible for the planning and day-to-day management of this programme and contribute to its ongoing strategic development, so that we can continue to enhance the expertise of our staff in a rapidly changing higher education environment.

As Careers Group services are scattered across various locations, you will need to be confident in the use of technology (such as webinars) to provide flexible learning opportunities.

The Group HQ is at Senate House and contains the Director's office and a small central team which supports the institutional services by coordinating recruitment and resourcing, providing training and professional development, supporting research and evidence-based practice, overseeing the creation and curation of shared resources, and undertaking special projects on behalf of member services and the Group as a whole.

The group has over 210 staff and serves a population well in excess of 150,000 students, researchers and graduates.
