Portal Product Owner 

The Information Technology Management (ITM) team is responsible for student systems, including the SITS student records system, the Portal (Liferay) and the Enquiries System (SID). The team provide expertise in lifecycle and business functions and managing systems development. The team also provides third line technical support. 

This position will be based within an existing team of Subject Matter Experts (SME) focussing on the following areas: 

  • Programme curriculum 

  • The Portal 

  • Student communications 

  • HESA (Higher Education Statistics Agency) 

Working closely with Senior SMEs, you will have overall responsibility for the product roadmap for the Liferay Portal and its constituent sites. You will establish and maintain processes to ensure the sites provide relevant and dynamic content to our various stakeholder groups, delivering a continued quality of service. This includes overseeing enhancements and upgrades whilst maintaining existing functionality and content. 

You will be a strong and effective communicator, able to manage a variety of activities synchronically. Your skills in business analysis and project management will allow you to extrapolate user requirements, define acceptance criteria and schedule delivery. Your abilities in applying good design principles and implementing quality assurance processes will ensure an exemplary user experience that delivers on operational and strategic objectives.  

Working alongside others who will support your growth and expertise, this is an interesting and varied role which will allow you to gain knowledge on the university business. 

We are in search for a highly motivated individual, ideally with knowledge of the student lifecycle and a Portal or Digital Experience Platform, preferably Liferay.
