The Careers Group is a unique organisation in UK higher education. Established over 100 years ago, the Group’s collective body of c270 careers and employability professionals makes it among the largest organisations in the world of its kind. Centrally and collectively, the Group is a highly visible leader in higher education careers and employability nationally and globally.
The Group is a central academic body of the University of London, a distributed network of embedded campus careers services, with a set of central, shared services, a centre of excellence and thought leadership in its field and a sizeable not for profit, cost-sharing enterprise. The Careers Group works with 16 member institutions creating a rich and complex organisation which the Director provides overall leadership of.
As of May 2020, The Careers Group is seeking to appoint its next Director. This is an exciting opportunity to head up a one-of-a-kind organisation in UK higher education. The Director will provide effective leadership and line management for the Group and its member institutions by shaping strategy, identifying opportunities and ensuring the continued progression of the Group as a national and international centre of excellence and thought leadership.
We are seeking an outstanding individual with the ability to inspire and lead of team of experts. You will be a highly regarded careers and employability leader with a track record amassed in organisations with a significant focus on careers and employability issues. Your experience of shaping strategy will provide demonstrable experience of how to ensure The Careers Group remains at the vanguard of careers and employability nationally and internationally. As an inspiring leader, you will have the ability to influence colleagues across the University and the member institutions, delivering high performance through effective leadership.
