The University of London Institute in Paris seeks to appoint a Lecturer in International Politics to contribute to the delivery of innovative and engaging teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to further enhance the Institute’s reputation for interdisciplinary research.


Located in the French capital, ULIP is committed to the development of students’ intercultural skills and transnational perspectives. Programmes at ULIP foreground comparative and connected approaches which situate France and the francophone world in relation to wider global dynamics and local diversities.


The successful candidate will have prior experience of teaching International Politics and International Relations. ULIP programmes in these subject areas highlight the role of non-state actors in dialogue with the State, and emphasise diverse forms of political engagement including dynamic interactions between politics and cultural expression of varied forms. Candidates are asked to submit a sample syllabus for a 12-week undergraduate module, demonstrating how their own research interests intersect with this approach.


The academic team at ULIP enjoys working closely with students to promote the diversification of pedagogical approaches and support for learning beyond the confines of the classroom. The successful candidate will share a commitment to these principles and be able to demonstrate prior experience of putting these principles into practice.


Candidates must hold a PhD in a relevant subject area and have native or near-native fluency in English and French. Previous experience of module design, delivery and assessment at a Higher Education Institution is essential.

This appointment is subject to final confirmation by the University of London depending on arrangements for the dates of the academic year 2020-21 and the registration of students for the programmes concerned.
