The Careers Group is now recruiting for a Head of College Careers Service, Education Consultancy (Maternity cover) who will be responsible for the direct provision of the Careers Education and Guidance Service to a number of the specialist institutions in the University of London federation, together with University of London Worldwide, the School of Advanced Study and some non-UoL partners, whilst the current Head is on maternity leave.

The Careers Group, University of London is an expertise-led, collaborative membership organisation, set up to serve predominantly, but not exclusively, the member institutions of the University of London. The Group is comprised of the careers services of UCL, King's College London, Queen Mary, University of London, City, University of London, Goldsmith's, SOAS, Royal Holloway, St. Mary's University, The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Royal Veterinary College, St. George's, the University of London distance learning programmes, SAS and the Courtauld institute. There is additional provision for the Institute of Cancer Research and some careers provision to a small number of non-member institutions. All the institutional services are closely aligned to the learning and teaching, student experience, employability and enterprise strategies of the institutions that they serve.
The group has over 280 staff and serves a population well in excess of 150,000 students, researchers and graduates.
The Head of College Careers Service, Education Consultancy (Maternity cover) will oversee the strategic direction of Education Consultancy and make decisions about the planning, development and management of the delivery of bespoke careers provision within institutions served by Education Consultancy. They will provide management to the Education Consultancy team, having specific line management responsibility for the Careers Consultants allocated to Education Consultancy and other staff working within and for the unit. The successful post-holder will manage local budgets, participate in committees across the Education Consultancy institutions and align careers provision with the institutions' strategic objectives. The post holder will sit on the Group Senior Leadership Team and the Central Managers team.
To apply for this role you must have experience of working within a multi-layered, complex organisation and previous managerial experience. You will have knowledge and experience of the techniques and professional skills required in careers work and the ability to develop relationships with stakeholders and colleagues within the sector at all levels. You will hold a university degree or equivalent level qualification and have extensive experience working in HE Careers Services.
