Please note this role is part-time for 21 hours per week and a 2 year fixed term contract. 

The University of London Worldwide is seeking a Programme Director for an exciting new on-line programme which we expect to launch in September 2019. The development of our new Postgraduate Certificate International Sports Management and Innovation has been supported by expert input from the World Academy of Sports. This role provides the opportunity for the Programme Director to play a significant part in the development of the on-line teaching resources for this programme, to be involved in the wider development and marketing of the programme and, post-launch, to provide Academic oversight and leadership. World Academy of Sport (WAoS)

WAoS is a leading educational body that specialises in global sport and major events; providing customised education to the international sporting community. This exciting new programme will draw on WAoS’ industry connections to provide students with access to real life case studies and interviews with eminent sports industry professionals. The Programme Director will initially be involved in overseeing programme development and will be working closely with senior staff at WAoS to ensure all elements of the programme have been completed to high standards in preparation for launch.

The Role

As Programme Director of the Postgraduate Certificate International Sports Management and Innovation, you will provide expertise and leadership that will enhance the programme for the benefit of our students across the Globe. The University of London PG Certificate International Sports Management and Innovation is itself a fully online programme that benefits from the distance education expertise at the University of London and the industry expertise at the World Academy of Sports.

You will demonstrate expertise in relation to sports management and this will ensure you lead on maintaining the quality and relevance of the programme in line with institutional and industry standards. Your experience in Master’s level teaching and assessment will facilitate high quality and innovative learning and outcomes for our students.

Building on your knowledge and experience of relevant educational and sector development within the UK and internationally, you will make key contributions to the design, development and enhancement of the programme. This will require the ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, from different cultural and social backgrounds, in pursuit of the development of excellence.

The role will require a balance between independent working and operating collaboratively with other colleagues at UoL and WAoS. Demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will also regularly liaise with senior academic leadership, and student-facing professional services – providing the best possible support to students.

Through your academic expertise, sector knowledge, careful insights into the Higher Education environment and ability to support transformational development, you will work to further enhance the University’s reputation as one of the world’s leaders in transnational education.

The appointment is a fixed term post commencing immediately or by March 2019 at the latest. A balance between being on-site and off-site work can facilitate flexibility for the post holder who will be leading this fully on-line award.
