Job Description

UCL Careers are seeking 3 x permanent Specialist Careers Consultants: individuals who can bring their considerable industry experience to support and develop the bright young minds of the future at UCL School of Management

UCL Careers are seeking candidates with backgrounds in Finance, Management Consultancy or Technology (which could include HR/recruitment experience in, or for, these sectors), to support the career development of our inspirational postgraduate student cohort at UCL School of Management. Home to UCL’s business and management research and education programmes, the School has forged a reputation for world-leading research and teaching in the areas of innovation management, the creation and growth of technology-intensive organisations, business analytics, and entrepreneurship.

Now in a period of considerable growth, we are expanding our Careers team to ensure that every student has access to personal, bespoke support on their own unique Careers journey. We are looking for people with a passion for coaching/mentoring, who have experience of supporting the career development of others, and who know what it takes to achieve success in one of our students’ key sectors of interest. The UCL Careers’ School of Management team are constantly challenging themselves to develop and be better in order to deliver sector-leading Careers support, and we are looking for candidates who share a similar commitment to professional excellence and who would thrive in an environment of innovation and change.

The Specialist Careers Consultants will form part of a team who will draw on their respective areas of expertise to plan and deliver a comprehensive Careers and Professional Development Programme targeted to students studying MSc Business Analytics, MSc Finance and MSc Management in the first instance. This will include a mix of workshops, seminars, 1:1 coaching and application support. In addition, they will use their knowledge and background to propose, trial and manage new initiatives, starting with the development of our ‘Sector Associates’ provision (more details about this are contained within the job description). The role involves a mixture of working as part of a team, liaising and consulting with colleagues and multiple stakeholders to determine the most appropriate interventions, as well as requiring significant autonomy and leadership skills when proposing and driving forward new initiatives.
