Senate House Library (SHL)
Senate House Library (SHL) is the central library for the University of London and the School of Advanced Study. It is one of the UK’s largest academic libraries for arts, humanities & social sciences with over 2 million books, 50 special collections and 1,800 archival collections. The Library and its collections have been continuously developed since the 1870s and includes many treasures such as the first folios of Shakespeare. The Library is open to the public as well as students and academics of the University of London – membership required.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to help create and implement a new vision for the University of London’s historic Senate House Library and its collections. You will lead and manage the service, operations and education functions within Senate House Library including the relevant strands of a major change management process across the University (the Library Transformation Programme). The Library Transformation Programme aims to create next generation library services, enhancing the student experience for our Federal members and developing the library’s digital offering. In addition it seeks to develop our special collections in order to promote new research and public engagement projects and attract researchers from across the world with the aim of creating a unique centre for knowledge and engagement within Bloomsbury’s Knowledge Quarter.
