Job Description

The University of London

The University of London is one of the oldest and largest universities in the UK – and the most diverse. Established by Royal Charter in 1836, the University is recognised globally as a world leader in Higher Education. We are a federal institution consisting of 17 self-governing Colleges of outstanding reputation and a number of acclaimed central academic bodies. The University of London offers almost every subject covered in any University curriculum, delivering huge flexibility and choice to its students.

The Role

Are you passionate about creating a sustainable future and inspiring action in others?

Would you relish the opportunity to inspire a global cohort of 75,000 students to take positive environmental action?

Then you’re the ideal candidate for the Sustainability Engagement Officer position at the University of London.

In the role you will assist the Sustainability Manager with promoting and enabling sustainable behaviour change across the University’s staff and student population to generate measurable results.

A key focus of the role will be running the University’s award winning Reduce the Juice: Connect Program. The program aims to drive pro-environmental behaviour change by introducing students and staff to sustainability challenges, providing their context and showing participants what they can do both individually and structurally to effect change. The successful candidate will lead the project; developing and presenting webinars to the members, overseeing competitions and promoting the program to participating students.

The post holder will also coordinate the University’s internal Sustainability Champions program. This will involve running the regular champions meetings, providing guidance on staff lead projects aimed at achieving quick environmental wins and arranging fun termly events like bulb planting.
