Job Description

The Careers Group is recruiting for a fixed term Maternity Cover Deputy Head of Careers and Enterprise at Queen Mary University of London. The maternity cover is from November 2021 for 12 months.

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone wanting to take on a strategic leadership role within a Careers service.  The Careers and Enterprise Team’s mission is to enable all Queen Mary undergraduates and postgraduates to build their employability, so that they are able to secure employment or further study after graduation or start their own business or social enterprise . The team consists of 35fte staff and is friendly, innovative and student-centred.

The Deputy Head plays a pivotal role in the Careers and Enterprise team, working closely with the Head of Service to shape and manage the service, deliver strategic projects and develop plans for service improvement, as well as leading and managing a team of 15FTE Careers Consultants and Student Employability Advisers. The Deputy Head also has a small careers consultant caseload, delivering careers education and guidance. We are looking for candidates who have some existing management experience within a careers team and who are able to understand the strategic landscape in which careers services operate. Candidate should also be competent careers practitioners, able to deliver careers education and guidance to a high standard.
