SITS Development Team Leader and SITS Developer

The Information Technology Management (ITM) team is responsible for student systems, including the SITS student records system. The team provide expertise in lifecycle and business functions. The team manages all of the development work to provide solutions including e:vision web functionality for staff and students. The team also provide third line technical support to our students and staff.

The postholder will work within the ITM team to ensure that their team of 6 developers (including the post holder) continue to provide a highly effective service. This will involve interaction with the other ITM teams and also with the central Information Technology Digital Services (ITDS) department.

Working with Colleges and Institutions of the federal University leads to a diverse programme offering and methods of delivery.  The successful candidate will need be adaptable to the challenges this brings. 

The ITM team provide five formal releases of e:vision and portal developments per year including an annual SITS double upgrade. The development team is responsible for meeting the requirements within each release cycle delivering a mix of project items, enhancements and bug fixes. The postholder will manage the development resource load and the timelines associated with each release. 

This is an established role and the postholder will be well supported by an experienced and knowledgeable team. It will be expected that the post holder will work as a developer outside of their team management responsibilities. The development work undertaken can be tailored to the successful candidate’s experience. Significant knowledge of SITS development is an essential to this role and the role provides a good mix of team leadership, release management and development opportunity.

We are looking for someone who is a good communicator, who likes a challenge and wishes to provide a good service. The postholder will need to take responsibility for their area and be able to work collaboratively to achieve common goals.

We are in search for a highly motivated Development Team Leader with in-depth knowledge of the SITS system and development cycles. It is expected that you will be working remotely to start with and this situation will be reviewed in line with government direction and advice. Therefore, we are looking for someone that will flourish in these circumstances and develop and grow their understanding of the business through building virtual connections.
