Data Analytics Engineer

The Role

The University of London is seeking an experienced Data and Analytics Engineer to join ITDS Intelligence and Analytics team.
The team currently maintain a mature portfolio of 40+ Power BI dashboards used both internally and externally by the University of London and our federation members.

The team are embarking on a new implementation of Microsoft Fabric, with the aim to provide a unified analytics and data platform to manage the full data lifecycle, improve performance and reliability, and to deliver a scalable and flexible solution for the future.

The main responsibilities of the role will be to:


  • Gather and analyse business intelligence requirements through stakeholder workshops and engagement.


  • Design, develop, and maintain BI solutions, including reports and interactive dashboards aligned to strategic and operational goals.


  • Source, integrate, and transform data from internal and external systems; build and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines and analytics-ready data models.


  • Ensure data quality, governance, documentation, and performance optimisation across datasets, queries, and dashboards.


  • Evaluate the reporting impact of source system changes and maintain alignment with evolving systems.


  • Promote best practice in data modelling, visualisation techniques, and BI standards.


  • Drive user adoption through training, customer support, and consistent BI administration (e.g., access control, data quality logs, standards).


  • Contribute to common data definitions and support statutory and regulatory data submissions.


  • Maintain professional awareness, comply with University policies (including equality and safety), and undertake additional duties as required.
