The School of Advanced Study – a nationally and internationally recognised centre of excellence in the promotion and facilitation of research in the Humanities and Social Sciences. It comprises eight internationally renowned research institutes as well as centres in Digital Humanities and Public Engagement. It has four nationally and internationally recognised specialist research libraries. This role sits within the newly established Doctoral Centre.
About the Doctoral Centre
The Doctoral Centre was formally established in 2021 as part of the new SAS strategy and in order to deliver a key component both of the University’s commitment to equip the next generation of researchers and to SAS’s national Research England funded role in research promotion and facilitation. The Centre also oversees the School’s own research student community of around 120 students, and aims to identify and apply best practice in doctoral study across the Institutes and to deliver a research student experience of the highest quality.
The role
The postholder will provide excellent quality administrative support to the research student community, from admission to graduation, ensuring that the student experience is a positive one.
This role will involve liaison across various departments of the School including registry, research services, ceremonies, fees and academic supervisory staff of the university.

The University currently operates a Hybrid Working framework involving a mix of working from remotely and in the office. Typically, the majority of employees will be able to agree to work remotely for up to 60% of their working week, role dependent, however will be required to attend on specific days for training or team meetings.
