The Role - Special Collections Manager (Fixed Term)


This role is a fixed term position until 31 March 2024, providing management of the Special Collections at Senate House Library, with particular specific duties around Rare Books collection and taking care of the management of our Art collection. This role will also lead on the Library’s contribution to the London Rare Books School run by the Institute of English Studies.


This is an exciting time to join Senate House Library, as we embark on our Library Transformation Programme. The post holder will work as part of the wider Library team as we develop our Collections Management and Development policies. You will work closely with our Archivists and Research Librarians to deliver services to support our researchers and readers and with academic colleagues in the School of Advanced Studies. You will also lead on engagement activities around our Special Collections.


The successful role holder will have experience working with Special Collections, in particular rare books and have excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working. Interest and experience in working in the areas covered by our Special Collections would be desirable (https://www.london.ac.uk/senate-house-library/our-collections/special-collections).
