Job Description
The University of London
The University of London is a leading UK provider of distance and digital education internationally, offering programmes to 45,000 students in 190 countries around the world. Although proudly rooted in London, our community and impact are global.
We are a national leader in the humanities, and we promote their value to society and the economy through knowledge creation and exchange.
We are also a federation of 17 world class higher education institutions, with collaboration at the heart of our ethos. The University of London federation is a collective community of more than 240,000 learners and 50,000 staff, delivering world-leading research across all disciplines.
Our passion for increasing access to education and mobilising the collective power and expertise of the federation is central to our ability to transform lives around the world and address the global challenges of the future.
The School of Advanced Study (SAS) comprises eight internationally renowned research institutes as well as centres in Digital Humanities and Public Engagement. It has four nationally and internationally recognised specialist research libraries. An important component of the humanities national infrastructure and part of the University of London, this is a really exciting time to join the School of Advanced Study as we are at the start of a new strategic plan.
The Digital Humanities Research Hub (DHRH) at SAS supports a variety of digital approaches to the Humanities across the UK and beyond. The Hub comprises a core team of researchers with connections to specific disciplines, including Classics, English, History and Modern Languages, who support and collaborate with projects and initiatives, offer training and teaching in digital methods and approaches, and carry out interdisciplinary research and supervision.
The UK-Ireland Digital Humanities Association (DHA) is currently hosted by the DHRH. It brings together researchers, practitioners and organisations from the two countries to build a collaborative vision for the field, with a focus on issues such as sustainability, inclusivity, training, advocacy and career progression. This vision builds on long-standing partnerships, research and centres of excellence to further development and innovation in digital humanities. The Association seeks to nurture the capacity for excellent research and teaching in digital humanities, to establish and sustain more effective connections across sectors, and to create new pathways for collaboration. These collaborations include partners in higher education; galleries, libraries, archives and museums; the technology sector; and the creative industries.
