The British and Irish Legal Information Institute is seeking an Executive Officer (part-time) to contribute to the development of the BAILII legal database, which provides free access to legal information.
The British and Irish Legal Information Institute (http://www.bailii.org) is a charity promoting access to justice and the rule of law through free access to legal information. BAILII operates an interactive database of full-text primary legal materials available without charge on the Internet. The database is a major tool for legal research and contributes to public understanding of the law. The continued availability and development of the service is of major importance to the practice and teaching of law. BAILII is based at and works with the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, part of the School of Advanced Study at the University of London.
BAILII is seeking an Executive Officer to support its Executive Director in the operation and development of its legal databases. The Executive Officer will work on the processing and maintenance of content, help to maintain the BAILII website, and work on improving the charity's social media presence. The Executive Officer will also contribute to fundraising activities, new strategic projects and the development of the BAILII database. BAILII is operated by a small team, so the successful candidate can expect to be involved with almost every aspect of day-to-day operations.
This is a part-time post 14 hours per week (0.4 FTE), fixed term for 18 months, with the possibility of extension to both hours and length of contract (dependent on charitable fundraising). The successful candidate will be employed by the University of London, working wholly for BAILII.
